Changing it up :)
Recently, I hosted an event I coined “Ghetto Paint and Sip” for the residents I organize events for three times each month. Working within a budget, I had to figure everything out on my own, relying on my (limited) experience. I found an inspirational painting, bought canvases, paints, brushes, and easels, researched how to make a stencil, and practiced to ensure I hadn’t forgotten anything.
I purchased a case of paper towels (which turned out to be more than necessary, but they'll be useful for future events) and a large quantity of paper plates (also saved for future use). I meticulously planned the food and beverages, as always, and hoped for the best.
I was unsure how many people to expect. This building loves parties; the last event was a summer kick-off BBQ with Jungle Juice and a DJ, which was epic. However, I wanted to offer something different with the paint and sip event.
The event was a huge success, filling my heart with joy. Residents connected with each other and created beautiful masterpieces in a relaxed atmosphere. The wine and food, thanks to Postino, were excellent.
Approximately 80 people participated in some capacity. Not everyone painted; some came just to socialize. Couples painted together, and 67 canvases were used.
The smiles, conversations, and creativity made for an amazing evening. The residents were grateful, and I reminded them that they are the ones who make these events successful. I can plan and set up, but they bring the fun and energy.
